TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development

The Centre for Training Excellence is offering the Double TAE Diploma. This document is to assist potential clients determine if either or both of these qualifications will be suitable to meet their needs and expectations.

Under the new standards for RTOs 2015, a new rule applies as from 2017. Trainers and assesses wanting to deliver the TAE40110 Cert IV TAE will need a Diploma or higher education qualification in adult education. Both these qualifications are designed for current advanced practitioners.

Assessors of the core units of the new TAE40116 Cert IV in TAE must hold the TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or the TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or be able to demonstrate equivalence of competencies at this level.

Individuals who are not currently training and assessing within an RTO in the Australian VET sector may find it hard to produce the evidence required for both qualification. These individuals may opt instead to undertake only the Dip of Training Design and Development.

The information and summary evidence requirements on the following page will assist potential candidates with determining their capability to produce the evidence required for both qualifications.

The fees will depend on the electives chosen but with our standard electives the fees are $2,495.05

TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development

This qualification reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analysing training needs, designing training solutions and products and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs to meet workplace capability requirements.

You will be a suitable candidate for this qualification if your current job role enables you to:

  • Design at least 2 training needs analyses for one or more organisations.
  • Design, develop and trial assessment tools for at least 3 units of competency and different AQF levels.
  • Design and evaluate at least 2 learning strategies with different design structures.
  • Research, design, develop and trial at least 2 print based resources that reflect client needs and the contexts of the application.
  • Conduct a thorough evaluation of a training program against workforce performance needs and capability requirements.

TAE50111 – Diploma of Vocational Education and Training

This qualification reflects the roles of experienced practitioners delivering training and assessment services usually within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. They may have a role in leading other trainers and assessors and in providing mentoring or advice to new trainers or assessors as well as designing approaches to learning and assessment strategies across a significant area within the RTO.

You will be a suitable candidate for this qualification if your current job role enables you to:

  • Design your own PD Plan, participate in PD activities to maintain currency of skills in the VET sector and in your vocational skills.
  • Observe facilitators in facilitation practice and provide them with constructive feedback.
  • Reflect with peers on feedback from at least 100 hours of your own advanced facilitation practice.
  • Interview assessors about their assessment practices and judgements and provide them with constructive feedback.
  • Lead assessment among a group or team of assessors, consisting of at least five (5) individuals and demonstrate how that leadership has led to improved processes and outcomes.
  • Assess at least 20 individual candidates against a total of at least 50 units of competency from training packages or accredited courses.
  • Design, develop and trial assessment tools for at least 3 units of competency and different AQF levels.
  • Design and evaluate at least 2 learning strategies with different design structures.
  • Determine the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) needs have at 2 least students in line with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF); then liaise with LLN specialists to design training and assessment strategies to support students with identified LLN needs.
