We are located near the Perth CBD, with easy access to public transport.

Collaborative Communication: Using Emotional Intelligence @ CTE Perth Campus

When we are all busy, having competing demands and increased pressure, dealing with people and their “issues” often seems to be “the last straw”.
This program will help you uncover what drives others to feel and act the way they do and give you insights into your own needs and feelings. You will then explore strategies that will work for you to collaborate with others, even when the pressure is on.

Those wanting to be awarded with a unit of competency have the option of completing a take home assignment. This could be used as an elective for either VET Diplomas or the Diploma of Quality Auditing or any other Diploma in BSB07 Training Package.

Instructional Design for Engaged Learning @ CTE City Campus

This “hands on” workshop will give you the skills to design engaging, practical lessons with clear expectations for students. You and your students will have a clear understanding of “where you are going” with your lessons, as well as determining whether they “got there”.

This session will equip you with the skills and knowledge to build quick, practical formative assessments in all of your sessions.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Whole Qualification) @ CTE City Campus

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the qualification required if subject matter experts wish to work in a training and assessment role in an RTO.

It also applies to people for whom training is a large part of their job, or their full job function within a structured assessment and training system. These people have considerable responsibility for training program development and delivery, as well as assessment of training participants or employees. The content of the units deals with the VET context, so a working knowledge of the VET system is helpful but not necessary.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Learning Design Cluster @ CTE City Campus
Aug 30 @ 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

The Learning Design component is one of four clusters that form the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. You may elect to complete this cluster only, however if you wish to have the entire Cert IV qualification you will also need to complete the Assessment, Facilitation and On the Job Trainer clusters.

Audience
It is applicable for all individuals who teach, train, assess and develop resources for learners in the regulated Australian VET sector.

Units of competence:

  • TAEDES401A – Design and develop learning programs (C)
  • TAEDES402A – Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs (C)

  • August 31 & 31 September 1

You will need to attend full day workshops from 9am – 4.30pm.

Assessment: Getting It Right Under the New Standards @ CTE City Campus

This “hands on” workshop will give the opportunity to work on your current assessment plans and tools. It will assist you in building confidence in all of your assessment practices, ensuring they meet student and industry needs and the new Standards for RTOs 2015.

TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills @ CTE City Campus

The unit describes the skills and knowledge a vocational trainer or assessor requires to identify language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skill requirements of training and the work environment, and to use resources and strategies that meet the needs of the learner group. It is applicable for all individuals who teach, train, assess and develop resources for adult learners.

Managing Learners with Challenging Behaviour – Classroom Management @ CTE City Campus
Sep 6 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Prevention can be better than a cure

This two half-day program is based on research by educational experts Barrie Bennett and Peter Smilanich. It explores techniques for preventing challenging behaviour, and will give practical tips and effective strategies that can be used immediately in any learning environment. Additional ongoing support is available upon request after the workshop, from a trained classroom management facilitator, who’ll provide participants with “non-evaluative” feedback on new strategies learned.

The topics covered in this course include:

  • Strategies, tactics and skills to respond to misbehaviour
  • Prevention is often better than the cure
  • Analysing one’s own feelings and needs when challenged by student’s behaviour – responding rather than reacting
  • Common reasons why students misbehave
  • Avoiding power struggles
  • Low key responses to students behaviour (invisible discipline) outcome

Graphic Organisers – Possibilities for Assessment and Instruction @ CTE City Campus

Graphic organisers are visual frameworks that motivate learners to explore both types of thinking – like compare/contrast, inductive etc and levels of thinking (think Bloom’s Taxonomy). This workshop will highlight the many possibilities for Assessment and Instruction using graphic organisers.

VET In Schools – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment @ CTE Leederville & City Campus

We understand the wealth of experience that VET in Schools teachers bring to this qualification. We also understand the complexities of the ever changing VET environment and compliance requirements. Through extensive research with teachers and school representatives we have designed a specific program for VET in Schools teachers. Using the latest “Flipped Learning” methodology, this program consists of a blend of on-line learning, 5 face-to-face workshops and Recognition of Prior Learning.
